Global drought risk model
A climate-forced stochastic catalogue of drought risk indexes
Drought affects people, agriculture, and businesses across all sectors in every populated continent on Earth, and with climate change, both drought frequency and duration are increasing globally. Losses of $124 Billion to the global economy over the last two decades (1998 – 2017) are directly attributed to drought. Hence, it is vital that the (re)insurance sector gains an accurate understanding of drought risk in the present and how it may change in the future.
The Reask Global Drought Model is in development in collaboration with a leading insurer. Please contact us if you would like to contribute to the validation exercise and obtain early access: info@reask.earth.
