Reask appoints Joss Matthewman as Chief Revenue Officer

Joss brings extensive expertise to drive and expand Reask’s rapidly growing customer base of the most sophisticated buyers of extreme weather data

19th March 2025: Reask, a leading science and technology company focusing on extreme weather modelling, announces Joss Matthewman as its new Chief Revenue Officer. Joss is a well-known and highly respected leader in the (re)insurance and catastrophe modelling sectors. He has a unique deep technical experience on how models are built, used, and scaled across the insurance value chain with applications across global (re)insurance, parametric insurance and ILS markets.

Reask is a pioneering science and technology company specialising in extreme weather risk modelling and forecasting for various sectors, including (re)insurance, ILS, governments and corporations. Starting with tropical cyclones and expanding into other perils, Reask leverages advanced proprietary AI algorithms combined with proprietary data sets to provide high-resolution data for forecasting, measuring and management of extreme weather risk, anywhere on Earth at any time.

This announcement swiftly follows Reask’s latest significant fundraising round led by InsuResilience Investment Fund Private Equity II (IIF II), managed by BlueOrchard Finance Ltd. This investment represents a significant step in Reask’s mission to provide accurate and actionable extreme weather risk data and build on Reask’s broad portfolio of clients across (re)insurers, parametric insurance, ILS funds and governments.

Joss’s unique experience in (re)insurance and catastrophe modelling go-to-market strategy coupled with Reask’s product-market fit made him the clear choice to spearhead Reask’s next phase of customer-centric growth.

Before joining Reask, Joss worked at Moody’s (previously RMS) as Senior Director of Climate Change Product Management and Strategy, where he was responsible for driving go-to-market and product strategy across all climate change products. Prior to that, Joss was Group Head of Catastrophe Exposure Management at Hiscox where he oversaw the group’s catastrophe risk exposure across all exposed lines of business. Joss started his career as a catastrophe model developer at RMS where he had various roles leading model development across hurricane wind and storm surge risk. Joss holds a PhD in Applied Mathematics from University College London.

“Joss is a rare and exceptional talent having worked across the entire value chain of building, buying and selling models.” says Jamie Rodney, CEO. “Coupled with his deep curiosity and ability to provide extreme weather data solutions that do not exist today, there is no one better positioned to understand the challenges our customers face. Joss’ expertise will be key in delivering value and maximising our product-market fit as we enter our next phase of growth”

Joss commented on his appointment, saying: “With their demonstrated expertise in catastrophe risk and cutting-edge innovation, I am delighted to be joining Reask. I very much look forward to having this opportunity to help drive the continued growth of the company”
